After Rohit Arya, a worker at the RA Studio in the Powai neighborhood, took 17 children and two adults hostage on Thursday, a dramatic hostage situation broke out in Mumbai. In a quick response, the cops shot the person holding the hostages before freeing the others.

After being shot in the chest during the 35-minute procedure, Arya passed away in the hospital. The investigation has been taken over by the Mumbai Crime Branch.

Rohit Arya collaborated with the state government on the “Majhi Shala, Sundar Shala” (My School, Beautiful School) project, it was later discovered.

But in 2024, he started an agitation against the government when his contribution was reportedly ignored and he was marginalized.
